Despite Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) be of paramount importance for economic development in terms of added value and employment, in what regards to risk management, they face several problems that can jeopardize Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) performance. Additionally, it must point out that SMEs are frequently considered a single group of enterprises; however, they may differ widely in terms of resources, risk management systems and OHS performance. The challenge for this project is to develop a scientific methodology that enables to build a tool that offers a cheap, helpful and readily way to identify problems related to risk management and that provide customized solutions which allow each firm to improve OHS performance, considering all their diversity. This kind of solutions has a huge potential, still unexplored.
