Armando Jorge Miranda de Sousa earned his PhD in 2004 in Electrical and Computer Engineering (EEC) at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, with a dissertation in the technical field of Robotics. He is currently an Auxiliary professor at the department of EEC, at FEUP and a researcher at INESC TEC in the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS). His current research interests include Educational issues in Higher Education side by side with the more technical fields of Robotics and Machine Vision. Regarding educational issues, he is an International Engineering Educator - ING.PAED.IGIP and has received several merits such as FEUP award for education (2009), UP pedagic excellence award (2015) and international ELearning contest at ECEL 2015. He has been participating in several national and international projects including ‘MEDIS - A Methodology for the Formation of Highly Qualified Engineers at Masters Level in the Design and Development of Advanced Industrial Informatics Systems’ and ‘Vincere - Ciências e engenharia em português’. He has also been participating in several technical international projects in robotics, including ‘CARLoS – CooperAtive Robot for Large Spaces manufacturing’, ‘ColRobot – Collaborative Robotics for aAssembly and Kitting in Smart Manufacturing’. He has co-authored over 30 indexed peer reviewed articles, both in pedagogical as well as in the mentioned technical fields.
