Rui S. Moreira is Associate Professor at Universidade Fernando Pessoa (UFP) since 2004, where he is responsible for the Programming Languages, Mobile Applications, Distributed Systems and Ubiquitous Computing courses; He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Faculty of Applied Sciences, Lancaster University, UK, 2003. He holds also a graduate (Systems and Computers) and MSc (Telecommunications) both in Electrical and Computers Engineering from Faculdade Engenharia Universidade Porto (FEUP), Portugal, respectively in 1992 and 1995. He is a researcher at INESC TEC, Porto, Portugal, since 1996 and also at LIACC, Porto, Portugal, since 2016; He is cofounder of the ISUS research unit at UFP, since 2007 and was co-responsible for the Safe Home Health Care research project, financed by the ERDF (COMPETE Programme) and FCT. His main research interests and publications focuses on dynamically adaptable reflective middleware for distributed, mobile, ubicomp and IoT in the scope of eHealth systems; his interests include also the combination of artificial intelligence/machine learning, cross-reality and smart spaces for enabling ambient assisted living.
